A-Metrics Technology Named Business Finalist
CHARLOTTE, NC (April 13, 2007) — A new sensor technology prompted A-Metrics LLC to be named a finalist in the Five Ventures® competition sponsored by the Charlotte Research Institute at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. A-Metrics was selected from among companies and entrepreneurs across the region following a two-round presentation before a score of eminent business judges.
The firm was required to first demonstrate why their business would be an excellent investment, and to then tailor their presentation to address a specific Fortune 500 company’s need. The A-Metrics team was selected for the strength of their business viability, knowledge of industry and market, business acumen and the quality of their management team, among other criteria.
The A-Metrics core product is a newly developed transducer that uses a patented technology to track minute changes in pressure, temperature, humidity. It also has the ability to digitally record vibration frequencies in seismic, sonar, and vocal ranges. Current applications include increased sensitivity for sonar devices and refined voice recognition plus more reliable detection of breast cancer and corroded pipelines.
The Five Ventures® competition was also hosted by UNC Charlotte’s Office of Technology Transfer and Belk College of Business.
A-Metrics, LLC was established in the
United States for the purpose of making their patented technology available
to companies and institutions worldwide that are interested in licensing,
purchasing or entering joint ventures. A US patent for this technology
was granted in 2005. Further patents in North America, Europe and the
Pacific Rim have been granted, with others pending. To learn more about
